An University Campus has a Boiler-Steam system that is subject to the Boiler MACT regulations
Industrial Energy Engineering conducted an Energy Assessment as required by the regulations with a secondary focus on reducing costs. IEE found that the key to reducing fuel consumption is in the timing of when to use steam for water heat, and when to use dedicated building boilers.
IEE recommended improvements to the measurement and control of building hot water heat to create the basis for further cost savings through sysnergy between central plant and remote boilers.
